Memories of Tundikhel

Who are our cities really for? The geographer David Harvey once wrote that “the freedom to make and remake our cities and ourselves is … one of the most precious yet most neglected of our human rights”. In this short documentary we look at the changing nature of urban space in Kathmandu, Nepal. 80-year-old Dhurba Ratna Sikhrakar narrates his memories of Tundikhel as local people launch a movement to save it from further encroachment. From playing there as a child to working construction on the Nepal Army's Stands, he is one of many whose lives have been intertwined with Tundikhel and borne witness over time to huge change.
